I used to think the most daunting thing about college was taking my finals. Now it’s finding a good job in the next year -- that’s already got me biting my nails to the nubs! My friends who’re graduating in June are telling me the job market is rough -- not like that’s shocking news or anything. But even if job-hunting is ridiculously hard in this crazy economy, you still gotta’ try! Here are a few apps I’ve found that’ll help your search. But first, be sure to take a few minutes to create or update your LinkedIn profile before you start using these apps -- it will make your life so much easier!
LinkUp – This mobile job search app is different from the others because it scours company sites for posted job listings, so there’s a solid chance the jobs you find here are solid and legit. No scams or spams! Save favorite jobs and get alerts when jobs in your industry are posted. This app is available for Android, iPad, iPhone, or Facebook app. It’s free.
Pocket Resume – This app makes it easy to customize your resume for each job and it pulls info from your LinkedIn profile to create an updated resume, which you can export to PDF or send to DropBox. This app is available for Android, Blackberry, iPad and iPhone, and costs $2.99.
BranchOut – This is the largest professional networking app for Facebook. Similar to LinkedIn, you can build a virtual network of business connections, upload a resume, recommend people, and search through a huge database of jobs and internships. This app is accessible through your Facebook account, and it’s free.
Glassdoor – Wouldn’t it be great to kinda’ get an idea of what it’s like to work for a company before you get hired there? Check out this Facebook app that lets you read people’s anonymous reviews of companies where they’ve interviewed or worked. It’s genius! You can also get salary data on the jobs you’re interested in, and search job postings. This app is accessible through your Facebook account, and it’s free.
Have you tried any of these apps? What do you think of them? What apps would you recommend that I haven’t tried yet? Good luck in your job searches, you guys!
