Think there’s no reason to be jealous of a group of 7-year-old kids? Think again.
A team of eager flag football players recently spent the day with Arizona cornerback Patrick Peterson, who taught the 7- and 8-year old boys some vital football skills and then coached their game. The once-in-a-lifetime experience was the grand prize of the Verizon Insider Southwest’s “Vote to Text” contest, which offered one team in Phoenix’s Coast to Coast Flag Football League the chance to have Peterson coach their game.
The winning team was the Colts, who nabbed with an impressive 41, 578 votes, garnered in seven days by enthusiastic family and friends who got the word out via text, Facebook and email. The experience with Peterson was part of the league’s “Patrick Peterson Saturday” event held Saturday Jan. 21 at Discovery Park in Gilbert, Arizona.
The Colts got to spend a few hours with Petersen learning passing, blocking, defensive and offensive skills, and also got a group photo with the NFL Pro Bowl All-Star.
The second-place team, the 7-8 Cowboys, also had the chance to meet Peterson for a group photo, and each player received an autographed mini-football. Two additional teams who recently played in the league’s National Championship in Florida also got the chance to get a group photo with Patrick.
The event was a great success and Verizon Insider was thrilled to be a part of it!
