A heartfelt CONGRATULATIONS to this years Winner of the Verizon Wireless My Fabulous 15 contest, Briana Spindola. Briana is from Los Angeles County, and attends Narbonne High School in Harbor City, California. Briana's favorite activity is her participation in Key Club. Read about it in her essay below:
What does winning aQuince mean to you?
Having a Quinceanera is my dream. We used tolive in a bad neighborhood where we didn't pay a lot of rent, but when a straybullet came through our window and hit my cousin, my parents decided to move usto a better neighborhood, but that meant we had to be on a strict budget. Inother words "ALWAYS BROKE." I love my parents and thank them forkeeping us safe, but now there isn't extra money for a Quince for me, sowinning this contest would be a dream come true for me and my family.
What is your favorite subject inschool and why?
Well, I don't really have favorite subject inschool, but I work really hard and have only A's and B's, but the thing I lovemost about school is being in "Key Club". The club consists ofvolunteering. We have beach clean-up days, car washes, and we help the teachersat our school. We volunteer at elementary schools during their after schoolprograms, at public libraries and hospitals. Being able to help others is themost rewarding thing to me. It makes my parents proud and hopefully willbenefit me when I apply for scholarships for college.
How do you keep in touch with yourfriends?
My cell phone is my life line. I text, I.M.,or call my friends. My sister pays for my cell phone bill and she got me themedia package on my phone so I can also go online on my phone to go on MySpaceor check my e-mails. Definitely, when I'm not with my friends at school ordoing some kind of activity, I am always on my phone.
Again, CONGRATULATIONS, and thank you to all who participated in this years contest.
